(After all, how are you supposed to show that you know how to be a responsible creditor if you never use your line of credit?) If you let your balance roll over from one cycle to the next, reduce the amount of interest your account accrues by paying substantially more than the minimum payment each month. If you use your student credit cards well, you will not reach your credit limit. But emergencies have a way of happening. If you find yourself nearing your credit limit, stop spending immediately. If you go over, do everything you can to pay your balance down as soon as possible.
