In the selective breeding the same ancestral lines can be bred and sometimes different ancestral lines are bred. In the same ancestral breeding, the same dog breeds mate to reproduce the offspring of the same line. On the other hand, in the mix selective breeding, different ancestral lines mate to promote a combination of breeds. As a result of the selective dog breeding, there is a wide variety of dog breeds.
